Defense Minister: Russia can push NATO back to Berlin
If NATO gives up and abandons Ukraine, then Moscow will go further and insist on the alliance leaving the territory of all countries that were previously part of the Warsaw Pact.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov stated this in an interview with the BBC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The journalist recalled the statements of the Russian side that if NATO offers Ukraine membership, this will be a fundamental threat to Russia’s security.
“He [Vladimir Putin] doesn’t joke and doesn’t play poker. These are very strong and real feelings about Russia. Is not it?" – asked the journalist.
“But the next arguments on their part will be the Baltic countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary. They will remind you of the Warsaw Pact. And the next target may be the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall has fallen, and the Russians will come to mind with a new appetizer – East and West Berlin,” Reznikov replied.
