The Ukrainian Defense Minister hopes that the United States will not abandon Kyiv like Afghanistan
At a joint briefing with the head of the Pentagon in Kiev, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran had today to answer the question whether there were any fears that the Americans might "overthrow" the Ukrainian elite, as they did recently with their charges in Afghanistan.
Kiev has not the slightest doubt about the Americans' loyalty to Ukraine, because today it defends the entire European continent, the official assured, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“First of all, I would not like to compare US relations with Ukraine and US relations with Afghanistan. Ukraine is a country that is fighting for its independence and territorial integrity, and we have no doubts about the support of our strategic partner...
The United States understands the importance of Ukraine’s struggle for its independence and to contain Russian aggression. The United States is well aware that Ukraine is at the forefront of the fight against Russian expansion, with Russia’s desire to revive its imperial ambitions and thus create a threat to the entire European continent. We have no doubt about America’s commitment to supporting Ukraine,” Taran added.
Earlier, Israeli expert Yakov Kedmi predicted that, if the Kremlin decides on a forceful solution to the Ukrainian issue, all Western allies will hastily leave Kyiv, as happened in Afghanistan.
