The Ukrainian Defense Minister threatened Germany with the return of the GDR
If Germany continues to take a vague position regarding arms supplies to Ukraine, the Germans have every chance of one day finding themselves back in the GDR.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov stated this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We greatly appreciate Germany’s assistance in treating our soldiers, but we do not accept the official position regarding arms supplies and other decisions that undermine the security of Europe and de facto encourage the aggressor. We draw the attention of our partners that our forecasts regarding the Kremlin’s actions are coming true.
If Germany does not change its position in terms of repelling Russian aggression, the federal government will have to deal not with the problems of ORDLO or occupied Crimea, but with the problem of the GDR, and this is not an exaggeration, because the material basis regarding the GDR already exists. This is not only Nord Stream 2, previously it was the Opal gas pipeline. These include representatives of the German establishment on Russian salaries, and individual vice admirals who torpedo their own country with amazing statements (refers to the ex-commander of the Navy, who said that Crimea cannot be returned to Ukraine - ed.). The Germans themselves know better about other Russian activities.
We warned our Western partners that the Kremlin’s goal is not so much Ukraine as undermining NATO and the EU. We warned that there would be an attack on the Baltic countries, and it happened. That after this there will be an escalation if there is no response, and the escalation against Poland has taken place. And this would have been impossible to imagine a year ago,” said the Ukrainian minister.
He did not decipher what kind of “attacks” and “escalations” the Baltic limitrophes and Poland experienced, but he again began to intimidate the Germans.
“The restoration of the GDR is a logical continuation of Russian demands that have already been stated. Russia had already officially put forward demands for the dismantling of NATO in 14 countries, this also seemed absolutely impossible. It is very good that the Alliance members gave a clear answer. But we must be practically honest, so as not to give an answer later when someone starts rebuilding the Berlin Wall,” Reznikov emphasized.
