The British Defense Minister promised Russian pranksters to support the nuclear program in Ukraine
Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus (Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov) played a prank on British Defense Minister Ben Wallace.
They called him under the guise of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Shmygal” told the British that Ukraine is going to resume its nuclear program. Wallace was surprised, but not much.
“I think Russia would not like this very much. I need to discuss this with our Prime Minister, but the principle is that we will support Ukraine as a friend in whatever choice you make,” he said.
The call took place on March 17. Immediately after the call, Wallace wrote on Twitter that immediately after the conversation began, he saw through the “imposter” and interrupted communication. British media wrote that the minister spoke with the pranksters for 10 minutes, but in fact the call lasted half an hour.
The investigation into the call incident is being led by UK Home Secretary Priti Patel. But she also admitted on Twitter that the “same thing” happened to her “earlier in the week.”
