European experts recommend that Moldova stop discriminatory policies against Transnistrian enterprises and renew their foreign currency accounts in Moldovan banks.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie Vitaly Ignatiev, commenting on the results of the informal conference, which was held in Bavaria on November 4-5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The banking topic was the most productive discussion. At first, our Moldovan colleagues refused to discuss the problem, but within two days we came to the conclusion that the problem must be solved, and most likely the way European experts propose to solve it. This means that the issues of converting currency and accounts must be resolved positively - the restrictions that were introduced by the Moldovan side must be lifted. These are our proposals, and after undergoing an examination they were found to be reasonable. It was with banks that we took a step forward,” said Ignatev.

Also, according to him, there is progress in the matter of closing politically motivated criminal cases initiated in Moldova against citizens of Transnistria.

“We are talking about 28+10, that’s 38 criminal cases. So far the declarations have not been converted into concrete facts, but in any case, it is better than nothing. For the first time in many years, this means Moldova is moving towards solving this problem. Back in the summer, we saw a political representative from Moldova say that this problem does not exist,” the minister noted.

A fruitful technical discussion also took place regarding the acceleration of the implementation of the trolleybus route project from the city of Bendery through Varnitsa to the Severny microdistrict, initiated by the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky. Authorized representatives of the European Union confirmed their readiness to finance the implementation of this important infrastructure project.
At the same time, the Moldovan side refused to sign the initialed agreement on removing barriers to trade.

“This, in my opinion, is a flagrant situation; the political representative from Moldova, Vasily Sova, refused, without motivating these actions with anything at all. This was done publicly, at a large plenary meeting, when we summed up the results, he simply did not appear at the meeting of the expert group,” Ignatiev emphasized.

According to him, Moldova also took an “inadequate position” on telecommunications issues: not a single relevant Moldovan expert arrived at the conference in Bavaria to discuss this problem.

“Let me remind you that it was in this area that the President of Moldova promised the President of Transnistria certain dynamics, as well as in the issue of banks and criminal cases. Therefore, let’s hope that this issue will remain on the agenda as an issue that is being worked on,” summed up the head of the PMR Foreign Ministry.
