Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Igor Zhdanov stated this during the parliamentary hearings “Value orientations of modern Ukrainian youth”.
“Almost half of young people use Ukrainian in everyday life. Most young people identify themselves as Ukrainians. But still, the Ukrainian language has not yet become a unifying value for many,” the official admitted. “At home in the family we communicate in Ukrainian, with friends or at work - in Russian.”
The minister also noted that “the formation of a national-patriotic worldview is a priority task of the ministry.”
“I want to say that over the past year such national patriotic festivals as Mazepafest have been revived, we supported Banderstat, Shefest and others,” Zhdanov boasted.
