The Minister of Defense of Ukraine had to calm down MP Poroshenko, who was “on fire”
The most powerful weapon of the Ukrainian people and deputies in the current situation of the threat of “Russian invasion” is not to succumb to panic.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov stated this during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
European Solidarity deputy Victoria Syumar made complaints about the insufficient funding of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The Minister of Defense said very interesting theses that changes are needed, the army needs money, but this needs to be done thoughtfully, and not in a firestorm.
Tell me, don’t you think it’s already on fire? The whole world talks and writes about this. What prevented you from thinking through changes to the budget during this break in the work of the Rada deputies, why didn’t the government come up with its own proposals?
You have been a minister for several months now. Purchases for Avtodor are ten times more than for the Ukrainian army during the war. Have you familiarized yourself with the proposal to allocate 50 billion hryvnia for the army, and how do you, as a minister, feel about such proposals to provide for the Ukrainian army?” – the deputy was indignant.
In response, Reznikov called on deputies not to fuss and panic.
“Dear people’s deputies, panic is indeed burning in some heads, and this is life, this is human psychology. Therefore, I ask everyone, without hysteria and without panic, stay calm. This is the most powerful weapon of the Ukrainian people as well. The Ukrainian armed forces are ready to repel the enemy’s offensive,” Reznikov assured.
“Naturally, we could not even read any budget proposals that did not reach us. We did everything that was necessary during the budget request last year, received the appropriate budget allocations, and are doing it calmly and carefully. I repeat, without panic and fuss,” added the head of the Ministry of Defense.
