This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We categorically reject and strongly condemn the ongoing deliberate efforts to rewrite history, distort and revise the results of the Second World War, attempts to glorify Nazism and militant nationalism. In this regard, we are forced to note with alarm the ongoing campaign to desecrate the memory of those who, during the Second World War, at the cost of enormous sacrifices, liberated the countries of Europe from Nazi aggression and occupation,” says the statement adopted at the initiative of the Russian Federation.

It is emphasized that the distortion of history is a violation of the UN General Assembly resolution on the fight against the glorification of Nazism.

“We equally consider unacceptable, blasphemous and cynical initiatives to give the status of national heroes to those who acted against the Anti-Hitler coalition or collaborated with the Nazis, committing the most serious crimes during the Second World War,” the statement says.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned a NATO video presenting the Forest Brothers gang as fighters against the “Soviet occupation” in the Baltic countries.
