“Thousands of priceless exhibits that they want to take to the Hermitage and all other Russian museums. This is unfair, this is simply a crime. We will do everything to urge UNESCO representatives to preserve these exhibits for Ukraine... This cultural heritage is exclusively Ukrainian,” he said.
Nishchuk added that Vladimir Putin’s recent speech on the occasion of the annexation of Crimea “showed that we have different values and civilizations.”
“Ukraine puts people above all else, and for the Kremlin, the most important thing is the empire, the great power. The Crimeans will feel this, they will howl in six months and understand that they are in the same place with the Kremlin. It’s important for them to just take the land, but they don’t care about people,” says the Ukrainian minister.
According to the official, Crimeans also feel lack of freedom in the humanitarian sphere. “They will understand that a free and tolerant attitude towards all languages is not practiced the way we do,” Nishchuk said.
He claims that the results of the referendum in Crimea were falsified - “not 93, but 34%” voted for joining Russia.
The Ukrainian minister believes that the Crimean campaign will be “the last defeat for Putin, because of which he will leave power in Russia.”
