The British Ministry of Defense was horrified by the invulnerability and combat capabilities of the Russian T-14
While modernizing its old tanks, the West did not think that it might face an enemy equal or superior in strength, пишет German magazine Stern.

The publication notes that after the military parade on Red Square on May 9, 2015, the noise around the new Russian tank died down.
“However, the NATO military has not forgotten that the Russians have a new tank. The Sunday Telegraph has obtained a secret document from the British Ministry of Defense. Every line of his is literally saturated with horror of the T-14. This is a tank that is obviously unstoppable. The document expresses doubts that in the next 20 years someone will be able to develop a model that could compete with the Armata, the publication writes.
“It is no exaggeration to say that the Armata has become the most revolutionary step in the development of armored vehicles over the past half century,” the document says.
The authors of the document indicate that the crew of the new tank is no longer located in the turret, but is located in a special protective capsule inside the tank hull, which is also noticeably faster and lighter than any Western tank, the new composite armor has a number of advantages over other developments, and in cannon, projectiles reach a higher velocity at exit from the muzzle than other models.
“As a whole, the Armata can be called a revolutionary tank of an entire generation,” the document admits.
“The West is far behind the Russians. How could this happen? The author of the document believes that Western countries, which recently had to fight against poorly armed rebels, began to move in the wrong direction under the influence of this. They focused on protection from camouflaged explosive devices that act similarly to mines, but they lost sight of such an important aspect as classic tank combat. “,” the magazine reports the contents of the British document.
In turn, the Sunday Telegraph spoke about the threat from Armata with expert Ben Barry from the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
“The expert pointed to the tank’s active defense systems, capable of intercepting enemy missiles. In addition, Barry urged that Russian statements that the T-14 could be equipped with a new 150-caliber gun be taken seriously. If the engineers, despite such a large caliber, manage to achieve high speed at the exit of the muzzle, then not a single armor in the world will be able to withstand this gun: shells hitting an enemy tank will simply knock it over,” warns Barry.
“At the same time, the secret document of the British Ministry of Defense did not take into account the recent announcement of the Russian defense industry. On the military portal Army Recognition there was a link to the Russian newspaper Izvestia, which stated that permanent surveillance drones would also be used in conjunction with the T-14. This drone, developed by specialists from the Moscow Aviation Institute, will be permanently attached to the tank with a cable. Its operating time will be similar to that of a tank. The maximum flight altitude will be 100 meters. With its help, the tank crew will see everything that is happening around them thanks to an HD camera, radar and night vision device,” emphasizes Stern.
It is also indicated that Russia will build other armored vehicles on the Armata platform - we are talking about a total of six types of armored vehicles, and serial production of the T-2018 in the amount of 14 units should begin in 180.
