Kharkov, May 20 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense ordered 194 armored personnel carriers to the Kharkov Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau named after. Morozov (KhKBM).

As Deputy Chairman of the Kharkov Regional State Administration Vasily Khoma said at a press conference, the Ministry of Defense ordered one hundred and fifty-four BTR-4 armored personnel carriers to the enterprise, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs - forty.
“This will make it possible to load more than 10 enterprises of the Kharkov region and related enterprises of the Ukrainian defense complex,” Khoma noted.
He emphasized that, according to experts, the implementation of this order will provide enterprises with enough funds to ensure payment of wages throughout the year.
However, the cost of the order and deadlines are not specified.
As Navigator reported, on May 7, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk officially handed over to the National Guard four new BTR-4E armored personnel carriers, which were “purchased from the manufacturer under a special government program.” At the same time, information has appeared in a number of media outlets that the newest armored personnel carriers may be “old”: in 2013, Iraq rejected a batch of armored vehicles due to cracks in the armor, and they were returned back to Ukraine.
During a government retreat in Kharkov, Yatsenyuk said that 42 modernized armored personnel carriers had been purchased for the needs of Ukrainian law enforcement and defense forces.
