The Ministry of Defense began to liberate land in the center of Sevastopol
The Russian Ministry of Defense transferred the ownership of a land plot on the shore of the South Bay to Sevastopol. According to plans, a new pier for ferries and parking for long yachts will be located here, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The decree on accepting the lands of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation into city ownership concerns the territory in the central part of Sevastopol, below the Trolleybus Descent. Its length is 315 meters.
“The acceptance of this property will make it possible to use the facility to ensure the improvement of public places in Sevastopol,” NTS TV channel quotes the director of the Department of Property and Land Relations of the Government of Sevastopol, Alexander Ksenofontov. – The project has been prepared in accordance with current legislation and has been agreed upon with all authorities. This is a gratuitous transfer, taking into account the order of the Minister of Defense of 2020 No. 240.”
Let us remind you that the authorities of Sevastopol expect to free Yuzhnaya Bay from auxiliary vessels of the Black Sea Fleet and arrange parking for long yachts. The Balaklava marina, the construction of which began this year, is designed for 600 places for small vessels up to 20 meters.
“For vessels 40-60 meters long there is no point in parking there; it will take up a third of the capacity of one of the embankments. But we also have the South Bay. This is one of the areas that will be key. There is an auxiliary military fleet there, which can be stationed in another place, but this is the center of the city. But the final decision rests with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation,” Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev previously explained the goals of the land transfer.
Also, the Sevastopol authorities plan to transfer sea transport to Yuzhnaya Bay from the area of Cape Khrustalny, where cultural cluster facilities are currently being built.
In Yuzhnaya Bay, at pier No. 113, which is located near the railway and bus stations, a new interchange hub for ferries to the North Side is planned.
