The Ministry of Defense besieged Dzhemilev: No Islamic battalions!
The Crimean Tatar battalion “Crimea” cannot be legalized in the Ukrainian legislative field, despite the desire of People’s Deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev and the fighters. Speaker of the General Staff Vladislav Seleznev stated this on the ATR TV channel.

“The legislation of Ukraine does not provide for the creation of military units based on national or ethnic characteristics. This question, first of all, needs to be addressed to the highest military-political leadership of the country. Secondly, it is very important to understand that the unit, when it comes to the “Crimea” battalion, consists of 500 to 800 personnel in the battalion. And as far as I know, the unit that calls itself the “Crimea” battalion includes several dozen people,” Seleznev said.
At the same time, battalion commander Isa Akayev assures that he is already collecting the required number of volunteers in the Kherson region and is ready to take representatives of other nationalities into his ranks.
“The creation of a national unit is not just a technical decision, like the creation of any other unit. This is a political decision. We need to show the people who live in Crimea that they are remembered, known, and cared about. In relation to the Crimean Tatars, they have their own national division,” Musaev noted.
