The Ministry of Defense spoke about a street battle in Mariupol
Ukrainian nationalists hid behind the civilian population and killed four residents during clashes with the People's Militia of the DPR in Mariupol.
Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov stated this at a briefing in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Konashenkov, five civilians were also wounded as a result of the battle.
“Yesterday, at about 17:150 Moscow time, on Pobedy Avenue in the city of Mariupol, DPR military personnel clashed with units of Ukrainian armed nationalists. The militants drove more than XNUMX civilians ahead of them, using them as a human shield. Having discovered the People's Militia fighters, Ukrainian nationalists opened fire on them from behind the backs of civilians. As a result of the shooting by Ukrainian Nazis, four civilians were killed and five were wounded. Soldiers of the People's Militia of the DPR transported the liberated civilians through the Vinogradnoye district from Mariupol to the controlled territory. All of them were provided with the necessary assistance,” Konashenkov said.
Also, according to a representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the day before, Russian military pilots and air defense units continued to destroy Ukrainian military aircraft:
“Yesterday evening, fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and military air defense shot down three more Su-27s of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Poltava area, one Su-25 in the Gostomel area and two Mi-24 helicopters in the Makarovo area, eight unmanned aerial vehicles, including Bayraktar TB-2. Bomber and attack aircraft were hit by three Buk M-1 air defense systems and two Ukrainian Armed Forces radar stations.”
