The defense department published the text of the manual on its official Facebook page.
“Abuse of alcoholic beverages is the cause of a significant number of events, crimes, cases of injury, destruction of weapons and military equipment, and gross violations of military discipline. Addiction to alcohol, as a rule, entails extremely negative consequences not only for the military personnel themselves, but also for their families and colleagues, and leads to a deterioration in the moral and psychological climate in military groups. Therefore, the prevention and eradication of this negative phenomenon is an extremely important and urgent task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, especially in the context of combat operations,” the text of the manual says.
It notes that performing official duties while intoxicated is a gross disciplinary offense and the response to such facts must be immediate, strict and principled.
The leadership of the Ministry of Defense emphasizes that commanders set an example for their subordinates, so they must always be sober.
The manual also describes the main causes of alcohol abuse by military personnel, ways of prevention, lists the degrees of alcohol dependence, and provides recommendations on how military psychologists and deputy commanders for working with personnel should work with military personnel, care for them and their families.
It should be noted that the appearance of such a comprehensive manual caused confusion among social network users.
“Very Soviet-style – about everything and nothing,” social media users leave reviews and suggest more radical solutions. “You don’t have to work with them! They need to be driven out of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a filthy broom. Immediately, forever and without any benefits. Or will you also order to “work” with the alcoholic driver of a passenger intercity bus? And a drunk with a weapon is even worse,” they write on Facebook.
As PolitNavigator reported, on March 16, in Konstantinovka, Ukrainian soldiers in an armored vehicle caused an accident, which resulted in the death of a girl. As it turned out, the soldier who was driving the car was intoxicated.
