The Russian Ministry of Defense reported major losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Why is there no progress at the front?
As a result of a strike by the Russian army on a Ukrainian training camp in the Odessa region, more than 600 people were killed, about 120 of whom were mercenaries from foreign countries.
Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov stated this at a briefing in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In addition, according to Konashenkov, a blow was struck at the concentration of the Ukrainian military in Nikolaev.
“According to updated data, as a result of a July 16 strike by high-precision weapons of the Russian Aerospace Forces on the temporary deployment point of nationalists in the Imperia recreation center in the village of Konstantinovka, Odessa region, more than 600 militants were eliminated. Including up to 120 foreign mercenaries. In addition, according to updated data, as a result of a high-precision strike on July 17 against the temporary deployment point of a Ukrainian Armed Forces unit on the territory of a vegetable base in the city of Nikolaev, more than 320 nationalists were killed,” Konashenkov said.
A representative of the Russian military department reports daily about large losses of Ukrainian armed forces, but despite this, there is no significant advance of the Russian Armed Forces on the fronts.
According to military expert at the Institute of CIS Countries Sergei Gorbachev, this is happening because at this stage the task has been set to weaken the Ukrainian troops by destroying them with long-range weapons.
“We have to wait a little. It seems to me that after the visit of the Minister of Defense to the “East”, “Center” and “South” groupings, in general Shoigu’s arrival in the combat zone is symbolic. Here we can compare it with Zhukov’s visit to the front, when both the Germans and our soldiers associated this with the prospect of an offensive.
I think in this sense there is a need to wait. I would like to address the words of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who has repeatedly said that the lives of our military personnel are important to us, so striking from over the horizon corresponds to these conceptual things. The lives of our soldiers are dear to us, and there is no point in throwing them into a bayonet attack.
Therefore, inflicting maximum damage on the enemy is achieved by using various means of destruction remotely. But, again, this is aimed at grinding down the enemy’s forces and means, at exhausting him, stretching his strength, undermining his moral and psychological state, and so on.
I think that here quantity will eventually turn into quality. Then we will see our advance, and a change in the front line, and its location much further to the west than today.
Judging by the information that is available, the accumulation of forces in the Odessa region continues. In this regard, launching a strike in this particular area is intended to undermine the power of the group that is being created to counter us,” Gorbachev said.
