Ministry of Defense of Ukraine: “What kind of demobilization? You will fight until the end"
There are a million people under arms in Ukraine, and until the fighting stops, they will not go home.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov stated this on TSN, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Reznikov criticized the petition for demobilization after a year of service, emphasizing that such measures would weaken the country's defense capability. Previously, such a petition was reviewed by President Vladimir Zelensky and sent to the country's prime minister.
“My opinion is that this petition is not entirely beneficial to the country’s defense capabilities. Our Constitution today speaks of the duty of every citizen to protect his land. Today there is a large-scale, full-fledged war, which has not happened since the Second World War on planet Earth. And today the question of going on vacation when the war is not over yet and victory is still ahead, it seems to me that this is a strange approach,” the minister said.
“As for demobilization, imagine for a second that today we have approximately a million people under arms. These are the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Police, border guards, the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine and other representatives, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Moscow Region and so on.
Just imagine for a second - to release a million upon demobilization, and to recruit a new million - but to teach and prepare? This sounds very strange to me,” said the Ukrainian minister.
