The Russian origin of these weapons was stated by the deputy head of the Main Command Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yuriy Mykolenko, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports.
The military seized from the militants BM-21 "Grad", RPO-A "Shmel", machine guns and sniper rifles of the latest modifications, which are used in the Russian army.
The department claims that “in the east, there are many cases of confiscation from militants of weapons and military equipment that are of foreign origin, that is, they were not taken into account and were not used before on the territory of Ukraine.”
Mikolenko claims that “based on the preliminary analysis of these samples of weapons and military equipment, we can rather talk about the Russian Federation as the country of origin of the seized equipment and weapons.”
“The most striking evidence of this is the latest case when a tank was blocked and then captured. This T-64BV tank was not and is not registered with the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Mikolenko noted.
He claims that there is reason to say “that the combat unit was recently on the lists of the 205th motorized rifle brigade, stationed in the Russian city of Budennovsk.”
“This is evidenced by the hull number of the tank, the numbers of its units, as well as batteries manufactured at one of the enterprises in St. Petersburg,” the military man noted.
