The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine admitted: the truth about the situation at the front harms the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Disclosure of information about the details of a military operation before official sources - the Ministry of Defense or the Armed Forces of Ukraine - have announced this, harms the Armed Forces and complicates the implementation of assigned tasks. Therefore, Ukrainians cannot write about the situation at the front based on sources not associated with officialdom.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar wrote about this on Facebook.
“Even if you have your own sources of information at the front, there is no need to write details of military operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on social networks. Moreover, sources at the tactical level do not know the entire situation as a whole, because they only have an idea of a fragment,” Malyar wrote.
According to her, now two former people’s deputies and one current one have begun to write about weapons used in the Kherson direction, about good news from Kherson.
“And this harms the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Information about the liberation or loss of a settlement provided before the completion of the operation is considered incorrect. Wait for official information from the General Staff,” noted Malyar.
She also stated that during war, military information is deliberately submitted with a delay in time - supposedly this is the rule of information under martial law.
“It is determined by military expediency during operations and security measures. This means that disclosing or distorting information about the details of a military operation before official sources (the Ministry of Defense or the Armed Forces of Ukraine) have announced this harms our Armed Forces and complicates the implementation of assigned tasks,” Malyar wrote.
The very first comment from the bot farm under the official’s Facebook post is noteworthy:
“It’s high time to apply punishment to those who are too tongue-tied,” writes a certain Olga Volodina, most likely a non-existent person with a nickname generated by the system.
Let us note: the reason for the appearance of such a harsh post by an official of the Ministry of Defense was yesterday’s story about how Ukrainian propaganda got into a puddle with messages about the “liberation of Kherson.”
Last night, “peremozhny” publications began to appear on Ukrainian social networks that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had either entered Kherson and had already managed to occupy 4 streets, or had reached the outskirts of the city, pushing back the enemy. These messages did not contain photo or video evidence. However, they were replicated on their Facebook pages by two ex-people’s deputies – Vitaliy Kupriy and Igor Mosiychuk.
“From two independent sources I learned that our fighters occupied 4 streets of Kherson. The offensive continues,” Kupriy wrote.
“Kherson... I recommend closely monitoring this Ukrainian city and... waiting for good news,” Mosiychuk wrote.
As of the morning of June 23, there was not a single confirmation that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had entered Kherson, neither from the General Staff, nor from the Ministry of Defense, nor from local residents. The purpose for which such rumors were spread online is unknown.
