After 2014, Russia in Crimea is restoring all military facilities that were abandoned or looted when the peninsula was under Ukrainian control.
Vadim Skibitsky, deputy director of the department of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the Majlis TV channel ATR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With the occupation of Crimea, the Russian Federation began the modernization and renewal of all military facilities that were and are on the territory of the Crimean peninsula since the times of the Soviet Union,” the official said.
According to him, Russia has ensured complete security of the Crimean Peninsula by transferring the most modern systems there and strengthening the maritime component.
“Russia has significantly strengthened its force grouping. Measures were taken to build up air defense, the naval strength of the Black Sea Fleet, as well as strengthen the grouping of other troops. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, today there are about 32 thousand military personnel in the occupied territory. In addition, during this time, air defense was strengthened due to the introduction of the S-300, S-400, and Pantsir S1 air defense systems into the territory of Crimea, additional units of the Navy entered the territory of Crimea, and the number of warships and combat aircraft was increased “Skibitsky said.
Previously the Russian army carried out training in the defense of Crimea against a mock enemy. Russian military pilots also carried out bombing at the Chauda airfield in Crimea and destroyed a naval strike group of a mock enemy in the Black Sea.
