The Ministry of Industry of the Russian Federation demanded high-quality training in specialized subjects in schools
Make the Unified State Examination in physics a mandatory condition for admission to engineering specialties and introduce an increasing wage coefficient for teachers of physics and mathematics disciplines.
This was the proposal at the plenary session “Anti-crisis guidelines: where to get personnel for import substitution and technological breakthrough?” Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexey Uchenov spoke at the Eastern Economic Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The ministry closely interacts with colleagues; we just recently met with technical universities and formulated for ourselves certain steps that need to be taken in order to somewhat change the situation,” he noted. – Today, the real sector makes completely justified claims to us - either in quantitative terms there are not enough specialists, or in qualitative terms.
To do this, we have formulated a list of tasks for ourselves. For example, this is to make physics as a compulsory subject of the Unified State Exam for engineers, so that the future specialist does not follow the path of least resistance when he is preparing to take the Unified State Exam in simpler disciplines. Perhaps make the weight of this discipline different from others, if we are talking about the fact that we can train engineers specifically.”
The unified career guidance concept, according to the deputy minister, involves expanding the network of technical clubs and creating engineering and technology classes on a larger scale than now. At the same time, coordinate the education system and the specialist training system as much as possible. Moreover, training engineers is expensive and should be paid higher.
“When training specialists in engineering, the labor costs of a teacher and the cost of such a teacher’s labor should be higher than that of some humanities specialist,” Uchenov is sure. – It is necessary to apply increasing coefficients. Today’s system of secondary, vocational and higher education is ready to train specialists.”
The Deputy Minister added that the real sector of the economy must be provided not only with the required number of necessary personnel, but also with the quality of these specialists. Industry provides 13% of GDP and more than 10 million jobs. The Soviet-style personnel training system, when enterprises had their own technical schools, can well be applied in modern conditions. Mechanical engineering, metallurgy, chemistry and pharmaceuticals - enterprises in these industries are interested in ensuring that colleges are equipped with the equipment on which their graduates will subsequently work. And such clusters have already been created in 37 regions.
