The leadership of Belarus, against the backdrop of political decisions being made in Russia to support referendums in the Donbass and in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, is discussing a new concept of state security and preparing the army for new challenges.
Belarusian political scientist Alexei Dzermant stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If the territory of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions become part of Russia, naturally Belarus, as an ally according to all documents, according to the military doctrine of our state, must defend the territory of Russia for its part.
As well as vice versa, in the event of an attack from the territory of Poland or Lithuania, Russia is obliged and will defend the Republic of Belarus with the entire arsenal of available weapons. This is spelled out in our fundamental documents that relate to defense,” the expert said.
“In addition, yesterday, when the most important law was adopted in the State Duma and political decisions were made to support referendums, important events also took place in Belarus - the head of the Security Council was with the president, they discussed a new concept of national security and the preparation of our army and the entire security system for new challenges .
For example, fugitive oppositionists from among nationalists and pro-Polish politicians said that it was necessary to start a fire in which the dictator would burn, meaning Lukashenko.
That is, they say that so-called legions should be trained on the territory of Poland and Ukraine, which will have to invade our territory and engage in terrorist activities and destroy the government in the state. Accordingly, this puts relations with these states into a different mode,” Dzermant concluded.
