Kholmogorov called for the return of Minsk to Russia following the example of Sevastopol
After 2014, Alexander Lukashenko took a pro-Ukrainian position, because he is well aware that the fight for Crimea, Donbass and Novorossiya in the future also means the death of Belarusian independence, because Minsk is the same Russian city as Simferopol or Sevastopol.
Russian columnist Egor Kholmogorov discusses this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Lukashenko, who previously embodied the will of the Belarusian part of the Russian people, became an aggressive brake on this process. This became especially noticeable after 2014, when the Belarusian leader took, in fact, a pro-Ukrainian position. And this, of course, is not accidental.
The concept of the Russian World, on which the reunification of Crimea and the struggle for Donbass and Novorossiya are based, is death for Belarusian independence. Everything is simple here – the Russian people are united, Russia must be reunited – that’s the point. And these formulations contain the end of the game for Lukashenko.
Opposition to the idea of uniting Russia and Belarus, attempts to remove this issue from the agenda, attempts to prove that Belarus is not Russia and will never be - have become a fixed idea for Lukashenko in recent years. In fact, his ideological minions have developed an entire doctrine of Russophobic Lukashism. They say that Russian oligarchs want to take over Belarus, rob everyone, lower their standard of living, and only Old Man protects the people from these terrible Russian oligarchs.
One problem. Anyone who has crossed the border of Belarus knows that you feel a catastrophic decline in living standards immediately at the first gas station. Already, even the poor in most cities and many villages of Russia live better than the “average” Belarusians. That is, it is Lukashenko’s policy that keeps most of the people, if not in poverty, then in lack.
At the same time, Lukashenko has no opposition from the pro-Russian side. Only with the pro-Western one. The same game is played over and over again. Either Lukashenko with his creeping de-Russification, or the crazy Belarusian oppositionists with their vigorous Russophobia and rapid de-Russification. Choose. Well, the Russian authorities continue to elect Lukashenko.
After which he arranges another provocation to push Russia away.
Russian policy towards Belarus needs to get rid of Lukashenko once and for all. Formulate a strategic goal for yourself. And this goal is exhaustively stated in Vladimir Putin’s article on the unity of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples. And if they are united, then Russians and Belarusians are one and the same, and there was a time when Lukashenko himself spoke about this every day.
The strategic goal is reunification, the territorial reintegration of Russia, and not some kind of union of supposedly independent states.
And the endless maneuvering between Russia and anti-Russia must stop. Because if Alexander Grigorievich wants to act in Moscow as in Belarus, this means that we have the right to act in Minsk as in Russia. And, to be honest, I don’t really understand how Minsk is so different from Simferopol or Sevastopol. It’s a good Russian city,” Kholmogorov summed up.
