The Ministry of Transport intends to approach the government with such a proposal, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

“The Ministry of Transport, together with the leadership of Crimea and Sevastopol, has considered the possibility of suspending passenger transportation to the territory of the Crimean Federal District and in the opposite direction using a “single ticket” for the period from December 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015,” the department confirmed to the publication.

From May to September 2015 inclusive, the Ministry of Transport proposes to resume transportation at a subsidized rate to Crimea.

The proposal to cancel the single ticket is due to stormy winter winds in the Kerch Strait and a decrease in passenger traffic.

“There are two arguments in favor of suspending transportation on a “single ticket”. Firstly, weather conditions. Passengers have to wait for “sea weather” to cross by ferry. After all, there are more disturbances at sea in autumn and winter than in summer.

And, secondly, the passenger flow is small and the trains run half empty,” writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
