This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.
Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko sent an official letter to the Central Election Commission, in which he informed the Central Election Commission about the non-compliance of three communist political parties with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On the condemnation of the communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the ban on their propaganda and symbols” and the need take measures to prevent these political forces from participating in local elections.
The letter states that the Commission on Compliance with the Law, created in accordance with current legislation, has prepared legal opinions on the inconsistency of the activities, names and symbols of the Communist Party of Ukraine, the Communist Party of Ukraine (renewed) and the Communist Party of Workers and Villagers with the requirements of the Law.
“Taking into account the above, we ask you to take comprehensive measures to prevent these political parties and their regional, city district organizations or other structural entities from participating in local elections as subjects of the electoral process,” the letter says.
