The world has seen the light regarding the Serbs
The international community already recognizes that there is more willingness on the part of the Serbs to resolve the Kosovo conflict than on the part of the Albanians.
This opinion was expressed today at a press conference in Moscow by Nikita Bondarev, associate professor at the Russian State University for the Humanities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Until last year, in the eyes of the world community, Albanians were good guys, but Serbs were not. But now the picture has begun to change. Serbs are getting rid of the negative flair of the 90s, when they were considered genocidists and chauvinists. These campaigns were carried out by American PR agencies, first in the interests of Croatia, and then in the interests of Bosnian Muslims. Then Kosovo turned to them. These efforts were in vain. More and more people in the West understand that the impossibility of a compromise on Kosovo is not the fault of the Serbs,” Bondarev said.
At the same time, he believes that the positions of Serbs and Albanians on the Kosovo issue differ.
“Even a year and a half ago it seemed that there was a possibility of compromise. It is now unclear how it can be achieved. The Albanians do not want to give up any territories, even those inhabited by ethnic Serbs. On the other hand, the overwhelming number of Serbs are not ready to recognize the independence of Kosovo,” Bondarev said.
