“The world is again divided into blocks. The third world war is coming” – political scientist
The world is rapidly approaching a global conflict involving states possessing nuclear weapons.
Ukrainian political analyst Andrei Buzarov comes to this conclusion in a column published by the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”, according to whom, today the likelihood of a nuclear confrontation has increased.
“If we compare the situation on the eve of the First and Second World Wars with the current one, we will see many trends that we are slowly moving towards the Third World War. Firstly, this is discrediting international bodies: at one time the League of Nations was unable to reconcile the warring parties, now the UN is inactive. Secondly, we see many conflicts: on the eve of World War II there was the Finnish campaign, the annexation of territories in Africa, and today we see what is happening in the east of Ukraine, in Syria.
We see the worst thing - the division of the world into two blocks, which also happened on the eve of the Second World War: there were the Axis countries and the Anti-Hitler coalition, and today we clearly see NATO and its allies (including Ukraine) and the Eurasian rapprochement of Russia and China, and also their allies - Iran, North Korea, Syria, Bashar al-Assad. That is, we clearly see the fault line, we see the symptoms. Where a war might start is another question, but the fact that there is a tendency is already obvious,” Buzarov believes.
