As the international press secretary of the “Immortal Regiment of Russia” Svetlana Konev told us, works from 75 countries of the world took part in the exhibition. Among them are drawings by children from such distant countries as Tanzania, Colombia, Mauritius, Tunisia and others.

“A year ago, I held an exhibition at the UN of the famous Soviet photographer Khaldei, so we initially planned to hold this exhibition at the UN in Geneva, but the coronavirus prevented this. But the plans remain, and when the pandemic ends, we will be able to hold an exhibition in one of the UN halls so that people can see how children look at the events of 75 years ago.

It is no coincidence that we called this exhibition “The World was Saved by a Soviet Soldier.” It is especially important that this be said after, for example, Donald Trump, speaking, says that there was a war in which “two wonderful countries won – the USA and Great Britain.”

And children who know that their great-grandparents fought and liberated Europe and the whole world from fascism, they look at these events like this.

Children from 75 countries take part in the exhibition. There are such exotic states as Benin and Togo - our Russian-speaking diaspora is there too, there are children who grow up there and whose ancestors fought. Of course, there are naive, childish works, and there are also very beautiful ones, but it is important that all the drawings do not leave anyone indifferent,” says Konev.

The highlight of the exhibition was that all the drawings sent by the children were inserted into large and beautiful frames - like paintings by great artists in the most famous museums in the world.

“We knew that these would be children’s drawings and understood that the exhibition would start online, but to make the children feel like real artists, we took all these children’s works and framed them - such large museum frames.

That is, a child looks at his work, and it is in the same frame as, say, paintings hang in the Louvre or Hermitage. These are “naive” children’s drawings in real frames, like those of great artists. That is, we wanted to make the children who took part in this exhibition feel that they are real artists.

Of course, this is a small thing, but they are pleased, they feel that they took part in a big and interesting event,” added the coordinator of the “Immortal Regiment.”

The exhibition “The World Was Saved by the Soviet Soldier” has great educational significance. Thanks to her, children will learn more about the real heroes and the feat of the soldiers of the Red Army, their contribution to the victory in World War II, says the Chairman of the Presidium of the All-Russian organization “Officers of Russia”, Hero of Russia Sergei Lipovoy.

“Descendants must remember the feat of their ancestors. Especially about something like Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II. Children should have heroes, always strong, always saving the whole world. They need someone to look up to in order to grow into worthy people.

And they are, the real ones, who truly saved the whole world - soldiers of the Soviet army, now the great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers of today's Russian children. The fact that children from other countries take part in the exhibition is wonderful.

This means that they also know, remember and honor the great feat of the Soviet people. This means that for these children, Soviet soldiers are also heroes, and this is right, because they really saved the world. And the whole world, and not just Russia, should not forget this,” the Hero of Russia emphasized.
