Miroshnik explained how Kyiv manipulates the “Steinmeier formula” for the sake of Western loans
At the negotiations in the Contact Group, the Ukrainian side proposed once again declaratively adopting an analogue of the Steinmeier formula in order to show the West that Kyiv is moving towards implementing the Minsk agreements and is ready to take out new loans.
Rodion Miroshnik, adviser to the head of the LPR Foreign Ministry, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today at the meeting of the Contact Group there was a new rotation of the OSCE SMM - new people came, another coordinator from Finland, the political group was changed. And the Ukrainian side put forward a proposal - “the Germans asked us to accept the Steinmeier formula,” that is, a mechanism for launching a special status for Donbass. We say that it was already signed on October 1, 2019,” Miroshnik noted.
“And the Ukrainians propose to do this - agree on it again, then go out and tell everyone that we have made progress. “We must move, we must work.” We said that we are not participating in this circus,” said the Luhansk politician.
He emphasized that Kyiv can still declare another “victory” and demand new loans from the West.
“But I don’t think Ukraine will be greatly embarrassed by this. They will say this without a twinge of conscience, completely calmly. And they will say that they fulfilled Merkel’s wishes, which means reward us, give us new money and loans,” the diplomat concluded.
