The global crisis is nothing compared to the home-grown Ukrainian one - expert
Ukraine does not need to fear a possible global economic crisis, since the country is already in a deep crisis.
Economic expert Andrei Novak stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, last year Ukraine received the lowest level of foreign investment in all the years of independence and increased the decline in industrial production.
“Ukraine doesn’t need a global economic crisis, we have our own crisis. If we end the last year in industry with a decline in industry of 7,5%, if we end the last financial year with the order of the Prime Minister to stop all payments from the budget, except for social items, if local budgets are short of 10,5 billion hryvnias throughout country, then there is no need for a global crisis, it is already at home.
We need to deal with the internal economy, internal economic policy, and not look for the guilty somewhere in the world.
That we have such a situation because, you see, there may be a global crisis someday, it is already negatively affecting us...
The volume of foreign direct investment last year was $2,5 billion. The lowest volume of foreign direct investment in all the years of Ukraine's independence.
For comparison, the same migrant workers transferred 12,5 billion only through official transfers. Do you feel the difference?” Novak concluded.
