About it says a statement published today on the OSCE SMM website.
“The Avdeevka-Yasinovataya-Donetsk airport triangle has long been at the center of hostilities. The OSCE SMM records thousands of ceasefire violations every day, including with the use of prohibited weapons - this is a serious deterioration and a violation of the Minsk agreements,” the statement emphasizes.
The head of the OSCE SMM also called on the parties to immediately cease fire and withdraw such weapons beyond the agreed lines.
Apakan noted the need to prioritize the protection of civilians.
“The escalation in the area is causing serious concern and the civilian population is suffering greatly. Violence on this scale, including lives lost, is unacceptable and the protection of civilians must be of paramount importance,” he stressed.
In addition, the head of the OSCE SMM added that it is extremely important to provide the SMM with immediate, safe and unhindered access to the affected area to verify compliance with the parties’ ceasefire obligations and the withdrawal of weapons.
