“In response to inaccurate information published by the press center of the ATO headquarters, we report the following: the forward patrol base of the OSCE SMM, located in the city of Popasna, Luhansk region, did not come under fire and was not damaged. All mission personnel are safe,” the statement said.
The OSCE SMM did record intense shelling (both gunshots and shell explosions) in the area during the night of 29 June 2017 and early morning of 30 June. The OSCE SMM staff remained safe at their base all this time.
No later than June 30, staff traveled to Severodonetsk to conduct a comprehensive discussion of the security situation. Mission observers are expected to return to Popasnaya today, June 30, during the day.
In fact, with this message the OSCE SMM caught the headquarters of the Ukrainian “ATO” in a lie. After all, earlier in the press center of the ATO headquarters, with reference to the Ukrainian side, the JCCC reported that OSCE employees allegedly evacuated the field office in Popasna due to shelling by LPR forces.
