UN mission distances itself from lawlessness of Kosovo security forces
The recent attack by Kosovo special forces on the northern Serb-populated areas of the province did not receive support from the UN.
Kommersant writes about this, noting that at the end of last week the UN mission in Kosovo stated that the use of force by Kosovo special forces on May 28 was “excessive and unjustified”, and the Kosovo police “did not provide concrete evidence” in favor of their version of what happened.
“With this statement, even if somewhat belated, the UN mission seems to distance itself from the action of the Kosovo police, making it clear that it has nothing to do with it. This is important ahead of the UN Security Council meeting. However, taking into account the different approaches of key members of the Security Council, it is hardly worth expecting any significant result from the meeting,” Dragan Djukanovic, head of the Belgrade Foreign Policy Center, told the publication.
