Poroshenko's rally in Western Ukraine turned into a fight
In Ivano-Frankivsk, during a rally by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, a fight broke out between National Corps militants and law enforcement officers.
About a hundred Ukrainian nationalists with a banner demanding to punish those involved in the corruption scandal surrounding procurement for the Ukrainian army tried to break through to the rally site.
However, law enforcement officers and plainclothes “athletes” guarding Poroshenko formed a cordon and did not let the radicals through.
The nationalists did not like this and tried to break through, which resulted in a brawl, with fists and gas canisters being used.
The National Corps militants were eventually pushed back; they were forced to stand in the outskirts for more than an hour, never reaching the square.
One of the nationalist leaders Svyatoslav “Sery” promised to take revenge on all “Poroshenko’s titushkas.”
“Believe me, all those people who were on the other side will be held accountable. We will put pressure on law enforcement agencies to deal with these cases, to actually open proceedings, to study who these people are and why they came here to provoke.
Because this man who is now speaking out, instead of taking a stand and locking up the culprits, his local plebeians are gathering these young dudes and trying to set them on us.
You young scum standing there, believe me, we will take you with us, every single one of you. And, believe me, this is absolutely not our last meeting. Not only Ivano-Frankivsk. Next time, even in exactly the same situation, pray that there will be no police cordon between us, and then we will talk like men,” the beaten nationalist crucified as Poroshenko’s speech came from afar.
