This is stated in the court decision, published in the State Register of Judicial Decisions of Ukraine.
As it appears from the case materials, a native of the Rivne region was called up in August 2014 for mobilization into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, served in the Zaporozhye region, and already in December of the same year he received a message from home that his grandfather, who raised him after that, had fallen ill. how the boy was abandoned by his parents.
The health of his only relative turned out to be a priority over military service, and the junior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having sold the GP-25 under-barrel grenade launcher to his colleague, left the unit and went home, where he cared for his sick grandfather, until in the summer of 2017 his whereabouts were established by employees of the military prosecutor’s office.
The court sentenced the deserter to two years in prison with a probationary period of one year.
