“I will miss my Ukrainian brothers in PACE” - Tolstoy
Russia is ready for a dialogue with Ukraine, but would like to build it not with a vassal state, but with a state free from external influence.
Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Pyotr Tolstoy stated this in an interview with Izvestia, answering a question about Ukraine’s threats to leave PACE.
“We have coexisted side by side for centuries as one people, we have strong family ties. I consider today's disagreements to be temporary and caused solely by the political situation in today's Ukraine. I really want to wish the Ukrainians real independence, true freedom in decision-making, and not the deceitful and treacherous one for which the Maidan stood. We are still ready for dialogue, but it would be much more correct and constructive to build relations not with a vassal state, but with a free state. To be honest, I will miss my Ukrainian brothers if they leave PACE,” Tolstoy said.
As PolitNavigator reported, after the PACE lifted sanctions against Russia, the Ukrainian delegation, including its leadership, accused the organization of treason and threatened leaving PACE.
