“I’m ashamed as a Ukrainian”: the SBU announced the capture of a border guard
The SBU issued a report that a Ukrainian border guard was captured by Russia in the neutral zone between the Kherson region and Crimea. Kyiv is resuming intimidation of citizens with the aim of refusing to travel to the peninsula this coming summer, says ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko.
According to the SBU, Russian security forces detained a Ukrainian border guard, tortured him and forced him to confess to illegally crossing the Russian border. “SBU operatives documented the fact of the illegal detention of a junior sergeant of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine by representatives of the FSB of the Russian Federation at the administrative border from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. After this, representatives of the Russian special services, using violence and torture, tried to force the Ukrainian to admit to allegedly deliberately crossing the administrative border with the peninsula. The FSB also persuaded the man to cooperate confidentially in order to obtain information on the organization of combat duty by units of the State Border Service. After “knocking out” and video recording confessions of allegedly crossing the border, representatives of the Russian Federation took the Ukrainian serviceman to the Kalanchak checkpoint,” the SBU said in a statement.
This information caused indignation among Ukrainian nationalists. Thus, UNA-UNSO speaker Nazar Prikhodko in his blog called on the Ukrainian special services to begin capturing Russians.
“Our border guards are kidnapped, tortured, forced to admit “facts” that are beneficial to themselves, but what about us? Where is the symmetrical answer multiplied by two? I understand this: the Israeli intelligence service Mossad acts not only on the principle of protecting Jews all over the world, it also acts on the principle “We have no room for error,” because Israel is surrounded on all sides by hostile states. In principle, Ukraine is also surrounded on almost all sides by enemies (Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Moldova) or not entirely friendly states (Romania). The exceptions are Slovakia and Poland, and even then, with Poland everything is complicated from a historical perspective. But, unlike the Mossad, the SBU does not take it on its shield: “We have no right to make mistakes,” basically, the slogan of the special service, unfortunately, is: “And so it will do,” the militant laments.
The SBU information about the detention of a border guard is a fake, former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko from the Kherson region said in a comment to PolitNavigator.
“I talked to some people in the Kherson region and found out that it’s a real fake. This is an influence on people so that today they do not travel to Crimea, the LPR, or the DPR. This is a method of intimidation. This was done so shamefully and wildly. The SBU is launching such fakes on purpose today. Apparently, this information is of a provocative nature. Plus, it shows that the SBU will continue to act aggressively against Russia, the Crimeans, and the LDPR. I, as a Ukrainian and a people’s deputy, am ashamed to read such crap that the SBU wrote,” Zhuravko said.
