I'm ashamed, I feel guilty for 2014 - Loboda
Ukrainian show business working in Russia did not understand anything about the political situation and did not appreciate the scale of the events that unfolded when the Maidan began in Ukraine.
Kiev artist Svetlana Loboda, who was not shy about touring Russia all 8 years after the Maidan, announced this on the YouTube channel “Tell Gordeeva,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do you feel guilty for what happened and it turned out that Russia, which some Ukrainian artists perceived as their stage, attacked Ukraine?” – asked Rostov journalist Katerina Gordeeva, recognized as a foreign agent.
“I feel guilty about what happened in 2014, I didn’t realize that was the beginning of what we got today. I was not thinking about it. I wasn't interested. I was taking care of myself.
I didn't understand anything. I'm ashamed. I feel bad about this today. But I think none of us could have guessed anything. Everyone understood that this was a territorial conflict between countries, but it was not a full-scale war. It was somewhere far away, as it seemed to us. What can we say, the entire Ukrainian creative intelligentsia, most of the artists, directors, choreographers, actors, dancers - we all worked in Russia.
And all the best, the best product that was created in Russia, was created by Ukrainians. From the 24th everything went to zero, from February 24 everything became too clear. We all understood that this was a war between our countries. And all smart people understand that the Russian leadership gave the command to attack Ukraine. There are no other designations here, no one defended themselves. Why did this happen, how could it happen and why do we need all this? It’s difficult for me,” Loboda said.
