Opinion: “Erdogan failed to please Biden. I had to go to Putin"
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan really wanted to meet with American leader Joe Biden, so he allowed himself to make an anti-Russian speech at the UN General Assembly, but in the end he had to come to Russia for negotiations with President Vladimir Putin.
Political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan stated this on radio Aurora, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Biden refused to meet with Erdogan, and Erdogan was very upset about this fact. He wanted to please, he said everything about Crimea, about how bad Russia is. I do not exclude that they previously (I mean Vladimir Vladimirovich and Recep Tayipovich), for example, agreed, obviously completely, it was clear. Apparently, even before that, preliminary, about gas supplies, because in December the contract for eight billion cubic meters of Russian gas supplies to Turkey expires, and it can be renewed at a stable and, perhaps, not the highest price. It is obvious. That is, the Russian side met halfway here. But the Russian side somehow wordlessly expresses all the “ah-ya-ay” to the Turkish side,” Gevorgyan said.
Let us remind you that the day before Turkish President Recep Erdogan visited Sochi, where he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
