A revolt of the possessed against the Church and common sense - this is exactly what the reaction of museum workers to the appointment of Father Sergius Khalyuta to the post of director of the Tauride Chersonese Nature Reserve looks like.

Part of the team did not support this protest, and they welcome the appointment of the priest to this position. I know this from the museum workers themselves.

In the scandalous video, I saw a wonderful combination of a representative of the Church (Father Sergius) and the Armed Forces (Governor Menyailo served in the navy). Representatives of these institutions consider official discipline or obedience natural. Both of them, as a rule, favorably regard the weaknesses of people who insult them.

By the way, the interaction between the Church and the army is generally the key to the life of Russia and, as a consequence, of Russian science.

On the other hand, I saw a group of unbalanced people infected with the liberal virus called “the people are always right” and “Church and science are not compatible.”

The citizens of Ukraine have come to believe too much in such slogans and, as a result, have a civil war.

The thesis “the people are always right” is false, because the will of the people often coincided with revolutions, after which rivers of blood flowed. Remember - lynchings have always shed the blood of the guilty and innocent by the will of the people, even Christ was crucified by the will of the people.

The second thesis sounded something like this: “The Church and science cannot coexist,” and it’s strange to hear this from educated people. After all, the Russian Orthodox Church has never opposed the development of science as a whole, nor against a specific group. Among the Orthodox saints there are many learned and highly educated people, for example, St. Luke Voino-Yasenetsky, who was engaged in scientific research in medicine, or the holy enlighteners Cyril and Methodius - for their time they were considered learned people.

Although, some life experience tells me that what is important for the indignant team is not the role of Father Sergius in science, but what his plans are for their accounting department. Maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see.
