Opinion: Russia is being held hostage by Lukashenko
The President of Belarus is forcing Russia to support most of his dubious and adventurous initiatives, which in fact are not beneficial for Moscow.
Russian journalist Kirill Krivosheev stated this during the debate, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Before 2020, Belarus acted from the position of some diversification and multipolarity. Because she was then in a position where she could do it.
And as soon as she ceased to be capable of this, she not only clings to Moscow, but tries to force Moscow to support itself more. Because with each new step, when Moscow supports more and more dubious intrigues of Lukashenko, it can no longer step back,” Krivosheev said.
In his opinion, Moscow, in a sense, has become a hostage to Lukashenko - for lack of a better candidate, it has to support the current Belarusian president.
“Having supported the migration crisis, supported Lukashenko with the harsh dispersal of rallies, it is difficult for Moscow to back down. Moreover, in front of whom? In Belarus, unfortunately, there is currently no alternative worthy of Moscow.
This is not a good situation, and in this regard Moscow is a hostage, because we have no one else to support. Those whom we could support were safely put in prison by Lukashenko.
And now we have a partner who at one time did not respect our delicate secrets, and we are now forced to support his delicate secrets one way or another,” the journalist concluded.
