Opinion: The deployment of the National Guard to Odessa is an act of intimidation in response to the December protests
Kyiv, January 04 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The entry of armed units of the Ukrainian National Guard into Odessa is an act of intimidation of the local population and a response to the protests that took place here in December against power outages and the deteriorating economic situation.
Political observer Andrei Manchuk thinks so.

“On the entry of troops into Odessa. It’s funny to listen to the babble that this was supposedly done to fight against “saboteurs” and “terrorists.” The underground troops don't catch them. This is a banal act of intimidation of the local population, which in December regularly came out to protest against heat and power cuts, increased bread prices, new utility tariffs and taxes, constantly blocking streets in different areas of the city. And nothing else. The Kyiv authorities are afraid. Soon in your city,” Manchuk wrote on his page on the social network.
On December 17, about 100 people blocked the Odessa-Nikolaev highway due to power outages in the villages of Krivaya Balka and Polovinki, Nikolaev region.
On December 19, people blocked the same highway due to power outages in Koblevo.
Also on December 19, a picket of the Odessa regional state administration was held by indignant residents who were indignant at why the lights were not turned off in Kyiv and Western Ukraine.
On December 5, pickets of Odessaoblenergo divisions took place in the Odessa region, whose participants demanded the restoration of electricity supplies.
