This was stated by Deputy Secretary General of the Alliance Rose Gottemoeller, RIA Novosti reports.
“This year a new NATO liaison office will be opened in Chisinau. This is not a military base, but a small diplomatic mission made up of civilians. There will be no NATO soldiers in Moldova. NATO has opened offices in other partner countries such as Russia, Ukraine and Georgia,” said Rose Gottemoeller.
Earlier in Moldova, the opposition demanded that Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur be heard in parliament in connection with the authorities’ plans to open a NATO office in Chisinau, contrary to the neutrality prescribed in the Constitution.
Let us remind you that the opening of an NATO office in the country will take place under President Igor Dodon, who, upon taking office, announced a multi-vector policy and promised to restore good relations with everyone - both in the West and in the East, including the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the European Union.
