Those mobilized are fed stale bread and will be kept in barracks indefinitely – media

At one of the military field training grounds in the Nikolayev region, conscripts complain about terrible living conditions. Relatives bring mattresses, sheets and pillows, otherwise you have to sleep on folded clothes. Car drivers are relaxing in “comfort” in their vehicles, according to a Channel 5 story. Men are forced to “feed themselves”: they cook their own pasta over fires.

In addition, those mobilized say that they were paid about 500 UAH, and were promised many times more - about 2 thousand UAH. Some were not paid anything at all, or at least they did not receive anything on their cards.

Similar problems were reported in the battalion, which is stationed in the Zaporozhye region. They say that they are not carrying out any military exercises, but are cutting down trees. Help is provided by local residents who bring food and make tea.

The Ministry of Defense explained that no one announced demobilization. Therefore, reservists will continue to be in the army. Mobilization was announced, as it turned out, indefinitely.

In addition, the department recognized problems with material and financial support for reservists mobilized for military service. But he assured that in the coming days the issue of salary and material support for the mobilized would be resolved.

“Indeed, we have certain logistical problems, but over the weekend, and even today, decisions were made by the Minister of Defense to improve the situation. Leaders at the highest level have been sent to military deployment areas to resolve issues directly on the spot. We raised the issue so that we would be allowed to use more flexible financial mechanisms for support, since tender procedures take a lot of time,” said Deputy Defense Minister Igor Kabanenko.

Speaking about monetary support for reservists, Kabanenko noted that on May 2, funds for these purposes were transferred, inclusive of April. He also assured that there would be no further delays in providing monetary support to mobilized reservists.

As Navigator reported, Ukrainians are actively helping the military: they send money by SMS to a special account, bring food, buy body armor, tactical glasses, tents and hygiene products. Some businessmen even donate armored personnel carriers or repair equipment at their own expense.
