Mobile operator DPR switches to Russian telephone code “+7”
Phoenix subscribers will be able to make calls and send SMS messages using the Russian numbering system +7
The head of the republic, Denis Pushilin, wrote about this on his page in the Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, subscribers of the republican telecom operator Phoenix with the numbering code +38071 will receive an additional number in the code of the Russian numbering system.
Thus, it becomes possible to make calls and send SMS messages to Phoenix subscribers using the Russian +7 numbering system.
The new number will match the current last seven digits. For example, if it was (+38071)1234567, then it will become (+7949)1234567. I think that this is a very good gift for Victory Day to the residents of the DPR,” explained the head of the republic.
He added that at this stage there will be no need to replace the SIM card, the cost of calls and tariffs will remain the same. Subscribers will learn about the assignment of the “+7” code from an SMS notification.
Political scientist Evgeniy Satanovsky commented on Pushilin’s statement. He noted that this step is quite comparable with the appointment of ambassadors of the DPR and LPR to the Russian Federation.
“It seems like a small thing on the occasion of Radio Day: the introduction of Russian telephone codes in the DPR and LPR, but it’s damn symbolic. Especially before Victory Day. The population there had been waiting for something like this for a long time. And then, it seems, they are no longer near Kiev for a long time, and the war has been going on with this regime in Donbass for many years, and our specialized bosses either could not, or did not, deal with such basic but important things for every normal citizen. they wanted, or they could, and they wanted, but they never received permission from above,” the political scientist wrote in his blog.
Developing the idea, he added that this is only a small part of what is necessary in the integration process.
“Agility and work for results, even for people in the lower bureaucracy, are, as a rule, not our distinguishing feature. It’s noticeable by how customs works on the DPR/LPR border. We don’t even talk about Russian banks, including those in Crimea, which has been Russian for who knows how many years now.
Moreover, there is reason to rejoice at the breakthrough in the work of signalmen. Even during the war, they knew: the first thing to do in order to establish a control system was to get communications to where they needed to be. Now the technologies are fundamentally different, and the era is new, but in the main everything remains the same. Why is the introduction of Russian telephone codes on the territory of the DPR and LPR not only a symbolic thing, but also damn important: no less than official appointment their ambassadors in Moscow. There will definitely be no return to the past. It’s a bad start,” Satanovsky emphasized.
