Modular metal tiles
Installation of classic metal tiles consisting of long sheets is not an easy task and one person cannot cope with it. What does it cost just to lift bulky sheets onto the roof? Another thing is the same material, but in the form of compact and lightweight modules that can be transported, stored and stacked without any problems. Let's find out what are the pros and cons of modular tiles.
Characteristics of modular metal tiles
Already from the name of the roofing covering it becomes clear that it consists of small fragments of a fixed size (modules). They are attached to each other using hidden locking systems. Each sheet has pre-fabricated holes with small indentations around it to ensure complete sealing of the roof and sufficient tightness.
One fragment has dimensions no more than 110×70 (cm) and weight up to 4 kg. The modules are manufactured according to the standard from high-alloy galvanized steel. They are protected on the outside by a polymer layer, and on the inside by an anti-corrosion compound. The polymer can be smooth, moderately or severely rough, and have different thicknesses and service life. The manufacturer's official warranty for polymer coating varies from 20 to 50 years.
Attention. Using modular tiles, you can create the most complex roofing surface: spherical, multi-gable or hip. Moreover, the installation itself will not be as labor-intensive as in the case of the sheet variety. metal tiles Ruukki , and the amount of waste is minimal.
Advantages and disadvantages of modular metal tiles
Let's start with the benefits:
- Modular roofing is easy to install and dismantle. Therefore, its repair will not be difficult and consists of replacing the damaged fragment with a new one.
- Laying roofing material resembles assembling a construction set. Thanks to the locks, the design is more durable and airtight, but at the same time appears seamless.
- Modular tiles resemble luxury ceramics in appearance. Colors and profiles can be very different.
The disadvantages of the material include:
- There are many joints, but if the installation rules are followed, the roof turns out to be absolutely airtight, looks like a monolith and reliably protects the house from precipitation.
- Modular metal tiles may be damaged during installation. The reason is the polymer's insufficient resistance to mechanical stress. A sharp tool can scratch the coating, ruin the appearance of the module and cause corrosion of the roofing. To avoid this, you must be extremely careful during installation.
- Proper design and installation of a roofing pie made of correctly selected and laid insulating materials solves another problem of metal roofing - its low heat and sound insulation properties.
Important. The higher cost of modular tiles (compared to their sheet counterpart) is the price to pay for convenient, quick and economical installation, external aesthetics and durability of the finished roof.
Modular metal tiles in Odessa - a serious competitor for its traditional leaf variety. It is an excellent solution for complex roofs because it provides maximum efficiency, despite the high price. Modular roofing appeared in Ukraine relatively recently, but has managed to strengthen its position in the building materials market. It is offered by European concerns from Austria, Poland and Finland, which have gained confidence in the high quality of their products.
