Mogilev admitted that he was ready to unleash a massacre in Crimea
During the beginning of the “Russian Spring” in Crimea, it was necessary to declare martial law or an anti-terrorist operation.
Former Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea and ex-Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Mogilev stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The former official once again emphasized that the group of Ukrainian troops located on the peninsula at that time could well have conducted military operations.
“I can assure, and have said more than once, that in Crimea the group of ground forces and the group of internal troops were quite combat-ready. The officers had to give a command. My heart bled when I saw our officers with their hands tied on the territory of military units. Military people must be given commands.
Those people who came to power then had to immediately occupy key positions, and in the event of a threat to the territorial integrity of Ukraine, immediately make decisions on introducing martial law in the territory of Crimea or on conducting an anti-terrorist operation there,” Mogilev said.
He also claims that he was ready to take charge of the fighting on the peninsula.
“If martial law were introduced, by law in this case, my administration, the Council of Ministers, would be subordinate to the military administration in this territory. It would be impossible even for me to be removed by law. I received the following message from Kiev: “Anatoly Vladimirovich, let’s do this: you understand that we will film you. We won’t film you, but you will sort it out.” I say: “Gentlemen, come here to Crimea, let’s sit down and discuss the powers. Let me then lead the armed forces on the territory of Crimea. Then it will be clear..."
Then I am removed from my position. Zamana said very correctly: when he was chief of the General Staff for two years, he said that the country’s armed forces, including in Crimea, could well defend Crimea and resist this seizure. Nobody gave them such a command,” Mogilev said.
