“Could have destroyed half the area.” Ukrainian Armed Forces drone attacked Donetsk
Ukrainian militants made their second attempt this fall to blow up an oil depot in the capital of the DPR.
Aleksey Nikonorov, a representative of the DPR in the security subgroup in Minsk, stated this on the Rossiya-24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Literally twenty minutes ago, another unmanned aerial vehicle hit an oil depot in Donetsk, where fuel and lubricants and a large amount of fuel are stored. We already had a similar situation on September 11th. Then the UAV dropped ammunition on the oil depot. A happy accident and successful actions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations made it possible to avoid a tragedy, because half of the region of the city of Donetsk would have ceased to exist as such,” Nikonorov said.
“Now exactly the same situation has happened. The strike UAV did not work - it got stuck in the fence. Our employees tried to neutralize it, but did not have time, and it exploded and detonated. No one was injured, and no serious consequences occurred. However, this is a situation that happens every day now,” said a DPR representative.
The incident was also confirmed on Facebook by the former 1st secretary of the Gorlovka city committee of the Communist Party, Aleksey Karpushev.
“In the morning there was an explosion at an oil depot in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk. Fragments of a Ukrainian drone were found on the roof of one of the tanks,” Karpushev wrote.
