Keep quiet and wait for an exchange: SBU mocks Russian language teacher
It’s time for the Russian authorities to introduce personal sanctions against Ukrainian prosecutors, special services and investigators for the chaos they caused against Russians in Ukraine.
Director of the Institute of Legal Policy and Social Protection Elena Berezhnaya announced this on her Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Berezhnaya noted that her Institute continues to protect the teacher of Russian language and literature, the head of the public organization “Rusich” in Kherson, Tatyana Kuzmich. Let us remind you that a woman arrested at the end of August after another trip to Crimea (which is not prohibited for citizens of Ukraine).
According to Ukrainian intelligence services, Kuzmich, while on the peninsula in 2015, was allegedly recruited by the FSB and spied in the Kherson region for Russia. As noted earlier, it is likely that the attention of the SBU could be caused by the fact that since 2008 the woman participated in the Great Russian Word festival, which was held in Crimea.
"After the official statements by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo about the illegality of Tatyana’s arrest, Kherson law enforcement officers indulged in cynical lawlessness,” Berezhnaya wrote. – Kuzmich was taken from the pre-trial detention center allegedly for interrogation, but the investigator was not in the SBU premises, and the present prosecutor Bondar, the procedural head of this criminal proceeding, demanded that Tatyana write an official statement to the investigator about the refusal of lawyer Svetlana Novitskaya, who is a lawyer at the Institute, and insisted in collaboration with lawyer Anatoly Popovich.”
“Motivation - You don’t need any hype about your case, you don’t need representatives of the UN or OSCE here, sign an agreement with the prosecutor and go to an exchange. History has never known such lawlessness!” – the human rights activist added.

At the same time, according to Berezhnaya, lawyer Popovich agreed to hold a closed court hearing to seize the property of Tatyana Kuzmich, did not object to this arrest, and did not demand the return of illegally seized funds, since the court did not allow them to be seized.
She also informed that on September 23, an appeal to change the preventive measure will be considered. Earlier it was reported that the Kherson court ordered Kuzmich to leave in custody until October 9.
“Justice will definitely prevail! It’s time, finally, for the Russian authorities to introduce personal sanctions against such would-be prosecutors and investigators! Otherwise, everyone who appreciates and is interested in Russian culture and history will end up in the Gestapo of the SBU,” Elena Berezhnaya urged.
The situation was commented on by former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Kherson region Alexey Zhuravko, who did not recognize the 2014 coup d’etat and was forced to leave Ukraine.
“The real political Gestapo, chaos! Remember the prisons of political prisoners that were located in Mariupol, which are in Kharkov, and in Kyiv. These punitive officers from the SBU understand perfectly well that they will not prove anything, so they resort to such methods by any means.
People are simply being stolen from the investigation. They hold on to every little thing in order to somehow condemn and show off their great activity. Actually, this is a crime against humanity, this is real lawlessness,” Zhuravko told PolitNavigator.
