Moldovans want to be closer to Russia than to the West - opinion poll
As evidenced by recent sociology, almost two-thirds of Moldovan citizens are against the country’s entry into NATO, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports, citing Interfax.

“65% of citizens are opposed to the country joining NATO, 21% are in favor, 14% are undecided. These are the results of a survey by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), released on Tuesday. According to the results, 57% of citizens believe that “Moldova should be closer to Russia,” and 43% – closer to the West and Europe. If a referendum is held, 48% are ready to vote for Moldova’s entry into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and 40% into the EU. According to the study, only 23% are in favor of unification with Romania. Among politicians, President Igor Dodon has the highest rating – 38,8%,” sociologists indicate.
